Trans-Friendly Therapy

Whether you are trying to work out your gender identity or you're going through the stress of accessing services, it's hard to be trans in a binary world. You might be wondering how you come out to friends, family and your workplace. There are so many considerations, you can end up feeling completely alone. Even if you are clear on who you are and what you need to do, it can be tough to deal with other people's reactions to you, day to day.

I can help you to explore your options, discuss your identity and work through information for you to make those crucial decisions. You don't need to feel alone in this process. I will respect you for who you are and help you with anxiety, depression and other difficulties that come with being different in a world that likes people to fit into neat boxes. I also help partners and family of trans and non-binary people to come to terms with the changes in their family that result from a loved one coming out as gender non-conforming.

Therapy For Autistic Adults

You feel like everyone else has been given a rule book for life and no-one gave you yours. You're intelligent and excel in some areas but still can't seem to reach your potential. People can be a mystery and relationships can feel really hard work. You have a pattern of getting overwhelmed and burnt out and want to learn how to break this cycle.

I can help you to understand why you get so overwhelmed and we can work on strategies to avoid burn out. Coming for therapy will help you to understand yourself more clearly and give you the tools you need to negotiate life. You can learn to use your strengths to help you in areas that you struggle with and start to work out how to make your work and home life feel more sustainable.

LGBQI+ Friendly Therapy

Whether you're just coming out to yourself or you're out to everyone, being queer brings extra stresses. The media doesn't represent us and there are still people who will discriminate against us for our sexual orientation or life choices. This can lead to fear of what to expect, depression, anxiety and feeling isolated.

I provide individual and relationship therapy which is informed and accepting. You can talk through your difficulties and work towards solutions without fear of being judged. The problems you have won't necessarily be anything to do with your sexual orientation or relationship choices but it's good to choose a therapist who understands where you're coming from.

My name is Rachel Phillips, and my goal is to provide effective, meaningful psychotherapy.

I help people using Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness here in Nottingham. If you are feeling lost and overwhelmed in a hostile world, working together could help you with gaining a sense of direction, self-acceptance and confidence.

With three decades of experience and a deep desire to help, I am warm and compassionate. I create a safe place for my clients to be themselves and work out how to live their best life, their way.
